HBA offers opportunities to serve in volunteer or officer positions. Volunteering is an excellent way to broaden your contacts within the romance writing community by, for example, contacting and scheduling speakers for the monthly meetings as 1st Vice-President. Or become the PRO Liaison and support the pre-PRO and PRO members. Another excellent position for getting connected is Newsletter Editor. If you have a numerical bent, try being Treasurer. And if you're published, consider becoming the PAN Liaison and finding ways to encourage and support other published authors.

Each officer and volunteer position is held for one year. Any member in good standing with RWA and HBA can volunteer for any Board of Directors position except President. Candidates for President must have served on the board for one year.
